In addition to the municipally managed areas of Matadero (Naves del Español, Intermediæ, the future Cineteca and Invernadero), others have been added and more will continue to be added in the next few years, under the auspices of third-party institutions, both public and private.
The Ministry of Culture participates in two ways: through INAEM and its two best-known artistic formations - the Spanish National Ballet and the National Dance Company, which have been based in the Old Slaughterhouse since 1996 - and through the Directorate General for Fine Arts and Culture, which will create the future National Fashion Centre.
The Madrid Design Foundation, linked to the Association of Madrid Designers (DIMAD), also participates in Matadero Madrid via activities promoted by the Design Centre, which opened in September 2007 and has organised projects such as the 1st Iberoamerican Design Biennial.
The Germán Sánchez-Rupérez Foundation sponsors the Casa del Lector (Reading House), a space located in warehouses 13 and 14 which will be dedicated to information, research, experimentation and dissemination of reading.
Architecture, urbanism and landscapism will also be a feature of Matadero Madrid thanks to the Madrid College of Architects Foundation (COAM).
In addition, production support for the visual and plastic arts will be centralised in a resource centre, taking the form of a Resources Centre run by the Madrid Association of Visual Artists (AVAM).
