You are invited to attend, Friday, January 25, at 8:30pm, the opening of the exhibition, Arqueológica, at Nave 16 at Matadero Madrid. Curated by Virginia Torrente, the exhibition revolves around the relationship between archaeological working methods and contemporary art., connected by many concepts, especially by the perception and analysis of the romantic sense of an artwork, its status as an archive and a document, and the relationship both these fields have with reality and fiction, memory and oblivion.   Within these parameters,  the collection is made up of pieces commissioned specifically for Arqueológica from eight international artists: Christian Andersson (Stockholm, Sweden, 1973), Pedro Barateiro (Almada, Portugal, 1979), Mariana Castillo Deball (Mexico City, Mexico, 1975), Mark Dion (New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA, 1961), Daniel Guzmán (Mexico City, Mexico, 1964), Diango Hernández (Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, 1970), Regina de Miguel (Málaga, Spain 1977) and Francesc Ruiz (Barcelona, Spain 1971). The eight artists in Arqueológica delve into the past, present, and future, taking a careful look at the history of all three.

In the opening there will be a performance of music and dance created for the artist Mariana Castillo Deball's piece.      We'll be expecting you.
