The Night Swimmers returns to Naves del Español after a successful run at the Fringe14 festival.

It depicts an ailing, fragmented world with no room for innocence. It features the two themes that currently obsess and strike a chord with me. The first is the private and personal theme of paternity. The second is the political (and public) theme of terrorism, or the legitimisation of violence to achieve true social change. A connection is therefore drawn between these two domains (the private and the public).

The script contains no dramatic characters as we conventionally understand them, because in the world that inspires this play there are no "whole" or "compact" people left to reflect what has happened to that world. It is a textual fabric woven with fragmented voices originating from multiple stories that have been cut short, which make up the human landscape of a city (a group of human beings) that has been battered.
