An exhibition product of six weeks of research and creative activity by the nine artists working on El Ranchito Brasil.
Matadero Madrid opens the exhibition entitled Si no todas las armas, los cañones, the product of six weeks of research and creative activity by the nine artists working on El Ranchito Brasil, an artists’ residency programme led by Matadero Madrid and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID) in partnership with the Brazilian Embassy.
The artists, who were selected by public competition, are Tainá Azeredo, Raúl Díaz Reyes, Natalia Domínguez, Frederico Filippi, Ana Belén López, Marta Muñoz and Pablo Santacana, Carlos Lopes Nunes and Matheus Rocha. All their projects share a common denominator: the process and realization of the idea has gradually changed each one of them, losing information along the way while maintaining the essence of the original concept. Hence the name of this exhibition: Si no todas las armas, los cañones (which in English could be translated as “if not all the weapons, at least the cannons”).

The goal of the El Ranchito Brasil programme is to set up links between the artistic communities in Brazil and Spain by means of a residency exchange based in two art centres and the Matadero Madrid and Pivô residency programmes. This time, both institutions have sought projects that explore the relationship between art and urban development from a multidisciplinary perspective.     Inauguration: Friday 14 November at 7 pm.
