Programme
A relationship of domesticity in the public space through the device #Caseando and documentation of public seminar "Emotional Town Planning"
The Intermediae warehouse will play host to an initiative that interrelates domestic and public spaces in the coming months. De lo urbano a lo doméstico, de la casa a la ciudad houses a conversation between public practices on city care taking with devices made by citizens which confirm a new domestic discourse.
#Caseando is a thought-to-action device which empowers cities and citizens. Through everyday actions the installation enables the viewing, testing and understanding of the power that citizens' initiatives deployed in homes have on public spaces.

This installation aims to draw attention to the new network protocols which make homes an extitutional process, i.e. a series of collective, platform-based citizens' initiatives, technological infrastructures and home-made devices, but also refers to the transfer of knowledge from the public sphere to the private sphere, the home. Nowadays, sharing resources is as important as sharing knowledge, and this initiative aims to reflect the synergies emerging from creativity in both these spheres.
In a dialogue with the domestic installation #Caseando, we suggest a sharing of documents and mapping of the results of the seminar on Urbanismo afectivo (Emotional Town Planning) held last February.

This seminar featured a series of visits, meetings and conferences with citizens involved in the caretaking of the city of Madrid. The format was open and featured constant discussion in analysing and reflecting on emotions and that intangible, hard-to-see and unspoken component which is always present following town planning processes.

All kinds of town planning affects us, it's a constant in our urban experience and the maps we present aim to reflect the potential of emotions and of care-giving when it is extended from the private to the public sphere. We propose putting into play and making available the documents to make analysis a part of the collective process of emotional town planning, enabling it to be discussed and critiqued in a relationship-based manner. Emotional maps show self-managed public spaces, feminist centres, architect studios or research teams who tackle decolonial education, communal vegetable gardens and initiatives in reclaimed lots.
A new collective space is emerging based on openness and emotions, which is extended by a network of domestic practices, generating new public and private spheres and fields. It is hoped that this proposal can contribute to the learning and reflection needed for this complex process that interrelates the domestic sphere with public spaces and vice versa in a spirit of ongoing conversation and analysis.
