The Sahara Internacional Film Festival (FiSahara) lands in this May in Madrid with a special edition that will show its visitors the culture and struggle of the Saharan people through their films.
May 26, 27 and 28 Cineteca and Matadero Madrid will host the first edition of the FiSahara Madrid. It includes screenings, debates, and round tables on the issues at Western Sahara, as well as a concert of traditional Saharan music and a jaima. Cineteca and Matadero Madrid will turn into an improvised desert for three days and a meeting point for artists, activists and the Saharan community.
Artists already invited to former editions of the Saharan refugees' camps will participate in this Madrilean edition of FiSahara. The Saharan singer Aziza Brahim will offer a special performance on Friday, May 26. Saharan -and other nationalities- flim makers will screen their works and take part in the round tables that will approach different aspects of the conflict and the struggle for auto determination and human rights defense.
