Matadero Madrid seeks to enhance the city’s external image and, along with the other major institutions working to promote Madrid, to position it as one of Europe’s great cultural metropolises, given its vocation to cater for all approaches and initiatives, its commitment to carry Madrid-based creations beyond our borders, and bearing in mind also the importance abroad of many of its activities.
Matadero Madrid strengthens its international status through cooperation agreements with prestigious cultural institutions in Europe and other continents, particularly Latin America.
Matadero Madrid maintains close contact with other international centres of creation. The recently-inaugurated new Paris creative space, Le 104, Les Abattoirs in Toulouse, the Lieu Unique in Nantes, the Mattatoio in Rome and the Delfina Foundation in London are just some of the centres with which it is currently working. Thanks to an exchange policy, Matadero Madrid’s associate institutions are also in permanent contact with specialised centres in the different fields of creation.
In addition to being one of the city’s main external promotion projects, it is a multicultural and intercultural space open to other cultures, thus reflecting Madrid’s cultural diversity.
