No pares (sigue, sigue) [Don’t stop (Keep going)]

No pares (sigue, sigue) is a research project that explores contemporary work culture, questioning the economic and political systems that sustain it. Based on an analysis of different narratives, this research sets out to draw a historical line from the somewhat hopeful saying “The early bird catches the worm” to the more liberal mantra “Work when you want to work”. With a format halfway between a spinning class and a dramatised lecture, the project aims to question the meritocratic narratives of effort and success, as well as the logics of self-exploitation that ensue, by generating a space for reflection in which to put forward new narratives that do not push our bodies and our times to the point of exhaustion.

Bio

Sergi Casero (Barcelona, 1991) holds a degree in Graphic Design from ELISAVA Escola de Disseny de Barcelona (2013) and a master's degree in Information Design from the Design Academy in Eindhoven (2020). His work is situated at the intersection between design, action and research. In his work he explores the use of performance art as a tool with which to represent research, paying special attention to the design of scenographic devices. His pieces create a space in which to question hegemonic narratives, physically presenting historical information through a multitude of perspectives - many of them counter-narratives - that emerge from oral testimonies or collective memory. His work has been presented at Veem House for Performance (Amsterdam), Het Nieuwe Instituut (Rotterdam), Van AbbeMuseum (Eindhoven), Arts Santa Mònica (Barcelona) and Centrale Fies (Dro, Italy) among other European institutions. He currently combines his artistic production with teaching and a part-time job in the catering industry.
