MORE ABOUT THE TIME BETWEEN US The Russian artist Ilya Kabakov said on one occasion: “In this way, a house is a device of one’s memory, it evokes memories, it calls up ghostly entities. The unconscious is also populated by ghosts. Not only memories, but also things we have forgotten are “stored” there. The soul is a dwelling place. Remembering houses and rooms we learn to look within ourselves”. To carry out his work, Rubio takes his inspiration from and delves further into this reflection.
“I seek to redefine the space in which we find ourselves to establish new affections between people we know and people we don’t know. The work delves into our habits and transformations through the action of leaving the place we are accustomed to in order to rethink our bonds to our surroundings and to live in an ever-changing way, in the days, hours, relationships, space. At the same time, the spatial object, the house, decentralised from the common places of locations in cities, reflects and creates a crisis in the physical and symbolic place that we inhabit”, Fernando Rubio.
