Brazilian band Liniker e os Caramelows will bring black and soul music to Naves Matadero in a performance with impressive staging.
When Liniker and her band Os Caramelows first got together in 2015 and released the video of their song Zero on YouTube, it became a viral phenomenon in a few short hours. Today it has amassed over 21 million views. In 2016 they released their first studio album, REMONTA, which earned them third place on Rolling Stone Brazil's list of the Best Albums of the Year. Led by a transgender performer, Liniker e os Caramelows define their proposal as MPB, an acronym in Portuguese that does not stand as it happens for “popular Brazilian music”, rather for Brazilian Black Music: “música preta brasileira”.

Liniker possesses an aura that has the audience eating out of her hands when she gazes at them and bears her soul to them as the sparks fly. In her stunning songs, with a marked tropical heritage, she manages to translate black music and soul into a contemporary Brazilian language. In one and the same concert she can have her passionate audience dancing to songs such as Louise du Brésil and she can touch their hearts with thoughtful compositions on social issues such as Sem Nome mas con Endereço, a song in which Liniker tells us about the reality of her life. In a recent interview in Dazed & Confused Magazine, she was quoted as saying that many people ask her when she’s going to make music about politics, to which she always answers: “A black transgender woman singing about love and giving concerts all over Brazil and all over the world is already pretty political”.

Following a world tour, Liniker e os Caramelows’ dynamic live sets have thrilled audiences at South by Southwest and Primavera Sound, among other festivals. In 2018 they released Lava, the first single from their latest album, brimming with influences from Central America, north-east Africa and the Caribbean.
