A full-size car built entirely out of bricks is parked in the street occupying a parking space between two vehicles. It is a pixellated car in three dimensions based on a small modern family car. It is built of solid, red moulded brickwork. Stretcher bricks are laid in a rectangular pattern, with each row of bricks tracing the horizontal section of the car. The bonnet and the roof are formed on a thin hollow brick panel resting on openwork brick supports. The wheels are a foot thick. The car weighs five tons.   Mmmm... is a group based in Madrid, made up of a large number of collaborators plus Emilio Alarcón (naval engineer), Alberto Alarcón (architect), Ciro Márquez (architect), and Eva Salmerón (journalist) who work on social projects of an artistic nature.   2 x 1. A PROGRAMME FOR TIMES OF CRISIS Matadero Madrid opens the 2 x 1 programme with Los Torreznos and mmmm…, a programme which showcases groups and artists based in Madrid. 2 x 1 proposes talent as a weapon to combat the economic crisis. By adopting promotional strategies commonly seen in the consumer market, 2 x 1 seeks to call attention to two artistic proposals with their own designation of origin, in this case, Madrid. 2 x 1 presents the latest works by two up and coming names on the Madrid artistic scene, Los Torreznos and the group mmmm..., at a unique venue: Matadero Madrid. Two artists, two disciplines, two proposals for a single purpose.
