Cosmen Adelaida were created in Madrid in 2007. After undergoing several changes to their name and musicians, they stand as Beatriz Page (keyboard, vocals), Elisa Pérez (drums, vocals), Marcos Domínguez (bass, vocals), Javier Egea (guitar, vocals) and Nacho de la Hoz (guitar, vocals).
Their songs can be categorised as Spanish pop and critics have detected influences from Stereolab, Los Planetas and Yo La Tengo in their work, though they actually draw on very broad and varied sources (Spanish folklore, Madchester, Grunge, Mod, Tweepop, etc.).
They recorded their first EP in 2009 and their second in 2010, and they have just put out their first full-length album, Siete Picos, recorded at Estudios La Mina by Raúl Pérez.
Cosmen Adelaida have performed in almost every venue in Madrid and have participated in a few rough cut contests nationwide, becoming finalists in some of them, such as the Grupo Revelación 2010 contest as part of Contempopranea (4th prize), or Proyecto Demo as part of FIB 2011 (2nd jury award).
After having recently recorded their first video, shot by Raúl Silvestre, they aim to “make another this summer, as well as to decentralise their performances to promote themselves all over the country, sign with a record label and leave their boring day jobs behind”.
We wish them the best of luck, and don’t forget to check them out live on Thursday, 28 July in the Archipiélago installation at Matadero Madrid’s summer terrace.
