This brief but careful selection of Polish and Russian film over the last 30 years is part of the SOUTH-EAST PARTNERSHIP project, carried out within the cultural programme of the Polish Presidency of the EU. The series seeks to understand how artists, creative communities and cultural institutions dealt with the lack of freedom and what they did with that freedom once they won it. Had art anticipated political and social changes? Had it reacted against them? Does it continue to do so today? Can it continue being a catalyst for social change?
