Las Naves del Español are putting on one of this year’s hits, Dürrenmatt’s masterpiece directed by Blanca Portillo, which speaks of the will to live of those who are so old as to be practically dead to society; of people’s problems today in analysing their own lives from a humanist point of view, of the desire to be someone, to have an identity in a world that strives to generalise and to make us all equal.

Synopsis: The breakdown of his flaming, cherry red Studebaker forces Alfredo Traps, general representative at a textile firm, to accept the hospitality of an elderly gentleman who lives alone with his housekeeper in a lonely house in the middle of nowhere. That night he will host a rather special dinner with friends, to which Traps is naturally invited. The guests’ advanced age doesn’t bode for an entertaining evening for Traps, until they offer to play a disturbing game. Intrigued, Traps agrees to play… > No show on 24 and 31 December > Meeting between THE BREAKDOWN and the public With the presence of the play’s director and the actors
