The architects José Ballesteros and Paula Montoya and Casa del Lector put forward a workshop where participants are invited to select a limited part or aspect of Madrid and to make a proposal for change.
The city is understood here as a basis for cultural expressions that use both a textual and graphical field to develop artistic and political proposals. From this approach we will make catalogues and chart the findings of spontaneous interventions in the city. The workshop will be a workspace for collecting graphic samples, sounds and/or documents to develop a book that is multi-supported, edited and updated from users at home. We will make an evolutionary map, where we will incorporate the proposals within the original city plans.
Each group will draw from previous work, other material that is sufficient for detecting and implementing an action on either a textual, narrative or physical basis. From there they will be able to take digital photos, drawings and any other act of documentation or appropriation. In addition the coordinators of the workshop will make up a character that is linked to the action in the city both literarily and artistically. This character will sponsor the students and give an initial talk describing their vision of the theme and/or propose methods for participation.
