DOCUMENTA MADRID

The Internationl Documentary Film Festival in Madrid, Documenta Madrid hosts its tenth instalment, in the coming month of May, staying true to its objectives, which are to develop, promote and disseminate the audio-visual panorama of documentary cinema, the “cinema of the real”.   Documenta Madrid has renewed itself by focusing the competition on a single Official Selection, consisting of two competitive categories, Feature Length Films and Shorts, that will show the best productions of the year, unreleased in Spain. These titles are then put forward for selection and will be considered for two prizes, which will be awarded by an International Jury and the General Public.     In addition, the festival offers two informative sections, and is in this instance, dedicated to national production: Panorama del Documental Español del Año (Panorama of this Year’s Spanish Documentary Cinema), that recognises the most prominent titles produced in our country over the last twelve months and Retrospectiva: El cine español en la Transición (Retrospective: Spanish Cinema in Transition), a journey to one of the richest and most passionate periods in the history of Spanish documentary cinema.   Check the program for screenings listed by day here.
