Enrique del Castillo

Soundtrait Film Series

Thanks to our ability to listen, we are able to update sound spaces, constructing and reconstructing our memories and identities, our way of relating to one another and our ways of being and existing in the world.

It is important to stress the active role that the experience of sound plays in the construction of the social fabric, because the fact is that listening, both as an object and as a tool for analysis, allows us to connect reflexivities, knowledge and agencies.

Which is why actively listening to a sound piece changes and shapes its environment.

Soundtrait Film Series is a research project based on the possibility of translating light into sound using 35 mm film as a medium.

It is also an interrelational project that aims to generate a practical exchange of experimentation between the artist and the urban and artistic context of the city.

The title refers to the characteristic features that in each work reflect the environment in which it was made and, to a certain extent, portray it.
