Hodei Herreros Rodríguez

Moldear, modelar, modular (Mould, Model, Modulate)

This project investigates the power of the voice to shape things. The proximity between the words mould - to give form to matter by casting it in a mould, model - to configure or conform something, and modulate - to vary for harmonic purposes the sound qualities of speech or song, makes it possible to establish a symbolic relationship between the voice and the act of shaping.  The artist is also interested in the relationship that exists within the physical processes of sound production as air from the lungs passes through the larynx, causing the vocal cords to vibrate. One might say that the voice moulds matter and form, but at the same time, it is the matter that models vocal capacity.

This project proposes linking a genealogy of the voice, form, and feminised matter, to construct a shared experience among women that advocates for the self-management of femininity from a feminist perspective.
