Pablo Capitán del Río

'Le trou' is a project that seeks to explore the underlying relationships between film images and sculpture

The project’s starting point is a sequence from Jacques Becker’s 1960 film Le trou (The Hole), in which a prison officer manipulates the food that the prisoners have received from their families, cutting it up and examining it in search of files, money or hidden knives. Matter as suspicious opacity. The aim is to reflect on the dimensions that fundamentally condition what the manipulation of matter itself means. Through a series of filmic and sculptural experiments, the artist will endeavour to create a corpus of experimental and collaborative offerings based on the interactions between body-gesture and automatism–matter.
