ANOTHER GREAT THEATRE OF THE WORLD

Running concurrently with the performances of Gran Teatro del Mundo [The Great Theatre of the World], directed by Carlos Saura, and performed on the same stage, another Great Theatre of the World, for children, will be staged under the direction of Olga Margallo weekend mornings.  This is a production by the Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico [National Classical Theatre Company] based on a version by Antonio Muñoz de Mesa.   “Today is The World's birthday and his friend Calderón de la Barca has planned a surprise party for him, with a very special present: the performance of The Great Theatre of the World.  But who is truly surprised are Calderón and his company, when they find out that The World is quite ill.  Alma, a seven year old girl, appears onstage and turns Calderón's plans upside-down.  Thanks to this new character, we learn what is causing The World's illness.  Calderón and his company set out to work to get The World better.  Will they be able to do it?”
