An exhibition offering the visitor a journey in knowledge through reading, showing them different labyrinths and tracing a path from the land of the myths to present-day communication networks.

This exhibition, organized by Casa del Lector and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), and curated by Francisco Jarauta, includes work by Gema Álava, Theo Angelopoulos, Eugeni Bonet, Jorge Luis Borges, Constant, Julio Cortázar, Rosó Cusó, Daniel García Andújar, Adolph Gottlieb, Ramon Llull, Josué Moreno, Robert Morris, Antoni Muntadas, Jaume Plensa, Santiago Ramón y Cajal, Charles Sandison, Robert Smithson and Imogen Stidworthy.   There are many different cultures whose literature has made the image of the labyrinth into a symbol of the loss of transparency, which Borges called “the opaqueness of the world”.  Ariadne's Thread not only invites us to free ourselves of the labyrinth, but it also offers us a poetic tool that allows us to keep weaving- now in the open- that tapestry of shapes and signs.  This exhibition offers the visitor a journey in knowledge through reading, showing them different labyrinths and tracing a path from the land of the myths to present-day communication networks, through other forms, such as the biological structures created by Nature.  And, if before the reader's itinerary meant following the path traces by the liberated Ariadne, weaving her tapestry over time, now it's the new reader, the quintessential traveler from another universe, who marks the path to new worlds, and whose articulación and syntax are defined using the processes of interaction and exchange found in discourse.   The exhibition includes work that has been created specifically for the showing and that will be assembled in situ, such as the works of Daniel García Andújar, Antoni Muntadas, Imogen Stidworthy, Gema Álava, and a spectacular interactive installation about the labyrinth at the House of Lucretius in Pompeii.
