In four years, the BE Festival (Birmingham European Festival) has become the leading platform in the United Kingdom for presenting the most innovative new interdisciplinary theatre arts endeavours from around Europe. With a line-up that goes on tour every autumn visiting the best theaters in England, including the Barbican of London and The Manchester Lowry, the best of the BE Festival arrives at the stage at Cineteca, Matadero Madrid.
The year's three best shows can be seen on the same night (dance, circus, and physical theatre). Each one is thirty minutes long, with an intermission and a meeting afterward between the companies and the audience. It is a unique opportunity to see the best in European theatre and dance together in one night.
Al Cubo by Betti Combo (France) Three bufoons help one another and challenge each other in order to create build higher than the others and maintain the perfect balance. Masterful circus, playful theatre, and charm 'al cubo' [cubed].
Tao Te by Ferenc Feher (Hungary) Winner: ACT-Arriaga International Touring Prize, BE FESTIVAL 2013
A unique fusion of contemporary dance, acrobatics, and martial arts. In search of a harmonius life, two men find themselves taken away through a number of conflicts and battles.
Next Door by Out of Balanz (Denmark) Winner: 1st Prize and Audience Prize, BE FESTIVAL 2013 When Ivan Hansen's neighbor dies suddenly, he realizes that he doesn't know a thing about him. An intimate narration masking in humor what really connects human beings. *This performance is in English with Spanish subtitles.
Additionally, if you show your ticket at the Naves del Español Theater Café or at the Cineteca Cantina, you can have dinner for 7€:
