BLACK IS BACK 2012

Black is Back is a festival competition like the old Northern Soul Weekends, born with a vocation for fusion and a deep love and respect for tradition, epic songs and the aesthetics of popular Afro- music, and which in its first edition features legendary names like The Impressions (for the first time in Spain, without Curtis Mayfield, of course, but but with two of the original members of the group, Fred Cash and Sam Gooden), young white vocalists who are renewing soul with a new look, like James Hunter (UK), whose name is already huge, and  Eli Paperboy Reed (USA), R&B and garage enthusiasts, such as Lisa Kekaula, the vocalist for The Bellrays, and Spanish artists who are devout followers of the genre, such as  Al Supersonic & The Teenagers (Granada) and Juan Zelada and Watch Out (both from Madrid).

We must welcome ideas like this, which labyrinths of style and bring fans to the genuine crossroads where soul music meets the most carnal passions.  Let us enjoy the experience as if we had grown up on Beale Street in Memphis or in a black neighborhood in Alabama. In Madrid, May 26-27, black is back".
