Every month, Matadero Madrid’s children/youth programme provides a wide selection of activities geared towards young people up to 16 years of age. These offerings include workshops, guided tours and special events. The goal is to use an interdisciplinary approach, with games as the primary educational element, to encourage interest in art and contemporary artistic creation among our youth, expand their knowledge and relate it to their individual experience so they can learn to be active, creative and critical spectators.
Activities scheduled for July include:
> Saturday, 9 July from 12 noon to 2 pm. En construcción: disculpen las molestias (Under construction: Pardon our appearance) are workshops based on the art installations at Abierto x Obras. On this occasion, the Taller Explorando Cabezas (Workshop on exploring heads) takes up Carlos Rodríguez Mendez’s Hombres sentados (Seated men) to discuss body parts and the objects best suited to represent us and to teach us to view images from different perspectives.
> Furthermore, a wide array of children’s plays, billed as the Children’s summer, are being put on by the Veranos de la Villa at Matadero Madrid throughout the month. The plays to be performed include:
Una casa (A house), from 5 to 7 July. An adventure show with a happy ending for children from 3 to 8 years of age.
