CLASIFICADA "S"
Narrated by Iggy Pop, the film revisits the years when, after Franco’s death, sex ceased to be a sin and became a cry of freedom captured on celluloid. Through interviews with actors, filmmakers, and historians, along with clips from films by Jess Franco, José Ramón Larraz, and Ignacio Iquino, the documentary traces the story of a transgressive cinema that unsettled censors, stirred consciences, and forever transformed the genre in Spain.
To accompany the premiere, Sedano presents a carte blanche featuring two rare gems from the “Rated S” era: Poppers (José María Castellví, 1984), an uninhibited, queer snapshot of Madrid nightlife at the height of the Movida, and Más allá del terror (Tomás Aznar, 1980), a delirious blend of quinqui cinema and the supernatural, where Spanish horror reaches its boiling point.
