Comic Fair Film Series
Cineteca Madrid is taking part in the Madrid Comic Fair with a selection of films that trace the links between cinema and comics. The program combines historical and contemporary perspectives on the relationship between panel and screen. It ranges from pop and genre-driven film adaptations of comics, with titles such as Batman: The Movie, Prince Valiant, and Danger: Diabolik, to more intimate and recent works like Falcon Lake.
The full screening of the series Samuel, presented in the presence of its creator Émilie Tronche, and the premiere of Here I Am, accompanied by a presentation and discussion with its illustrators and screenwriters, place the spotlight on contemporary creation that engages directly with the sensibility of today’s comics.
Taken as a whole, the program invites audiences to think of film and comics as languages that have shaped one another over time and that continue to offer a shared space for experimentation and exchange.
