COOPER

In coincidence with the exhibition «Lecturas de cabecera» (Bedside Reading) in Casa del Lector, Cooper will perform an acoustic concert for the whole family.   Cooper’s secrets are hidden in his songs: songs that invite that invite you to unravel them, upon a second listening, you see that the apparent pop simplicity is nothing more than the attractive packaging of more sincere and pure feelings. Cooper’s universe is personal and is at the same time rich in references, and not only musical ones: from the moving echoes of a film buff in “Un dia de furia” (A Day of Fury) or “círcular polar” (Polar Circle) to the inspiring presence of Vasarely in his lastest work, which shows an interest in photography and pop illustration, reflecting his love of design. We also have the poetics of “menos es mas” (More is Less) which can be found in the majority of his lyrics. Nothing is left to chance and everything in Cooper works on various levels of understanding. The game is in knowing how to approach it.  And in this acoustic performance, a face-to-face encounter is assured; simple or profound, it’s up to you.   COOPER is Alex Diez’s solo project, a former member of Los Flechazos, a band related to the Spanish pop scene of the 80’s and 90’s. “Fonorama”, Cooper’s first album, saw the light in 2000, and propelled the career of this new adventure forward, taking his band on tour to festivals and venues around the country. Today, Cooper’s career is difficult to sum up: four long play records, and infinity of released singles, more than 500 currently in Spain, England and Germany, a DVD, and a legion of fans that enjoy each of the bands steps along the way, always looking out for the perfect pop song.
