DOCUMENTA MADRID 2026

Documenta Madrid, the International Documentary Film Festival organized by the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sports, will celebrate its 23rd edition from May 26 to 31. While Cineteca Madrid remains its primary venue, the festival's programming will also extend to Filmoteca Española, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, La Casa Encendida, and the Goethe-Institut.

Under the artistic direction of Luis E. Parés—who also serves as the Artistic Director of Cineteca Madrid—the festival continues to strengthen the curatorial vision established in recent years. The selection committee is composed of Nuria Cubas, Pablo Caldera, Irene Castro, and Florencia de Múgica. Together with Parés, they have curated a program defined by a focus on auteur documentary cinema, the promotion of Spanish filmmaking, and a continuous dialogue with film history.
