Upon the occasion of the 20th edition of the Estampa multiple arts fair, Matadero Madrid presents its Special Editions.
Fernando Sánchez Castillo, Ville Lenkkeri and Jordi Colomer are the auteurs hailing in the arrival of this new focus. The goal is to put work by artists featured in programming at the centre within reach of the public, in limited editions and at a low cost.

This photograph is part of the Vidas y lugares (Lives and Places) exhibition that took place at Matadero Madrid from September 14 to December 16, 2012 as part of the Días Nórdicos/Nordic Days Festival. This image is part of the The Place of no Roads series, in which Lenkkerimade several trips to two Russian towns in Spitzbergen. For him, these abandoned mining towns were “not so much a depressing scar in the Arctic landscape as just and happy places of common welfare, where competitive hierarchies had been abolished in favor of equality”. The trip turned into a “a personal search for alternative ways to live”, the place, “a utopia, at least for having failed in its survival”. Matadero Madrid affirms that the work purchased is an authentic copy by the artist Ville Lenkkeri, who has supervised this copy and has agreed to include it in the collection “Ediciones especiales de Matadero Madrid/Special Editions at Matadero Madrid”.
