An editathon is an activity in which several people come together to create new content on Wikipedia, with the goal of reducing the gender gap in the free encyclopedia.
> Thematic

On this occasion, taking advantage of such an important slogan as #SeAcabó, which symbolizes the collective repulsion against the aggression suffered by the soccer player Jenni Hermoso, from Wikiesfera and in coordination with Medialab Matadero we propose you to participate in an editatona to publish articles by sports journalists as well as biographies of women athletes in Wikipedia.

We will count with the presence of political scientist and journalist Irene Zugasti (@irezugasti), specialized in International Relations, Security and Gender policies. She is the author of the book #SeAcabó. La doble victoria de las campeonas del Mundo de fútbol where she describes the struggle for rights and against sexual violence starred by Jenni Hermoso and her teammates, before and after becoming the world champions in August 2023.

This activity is integrated within the Wikiesfera working group in which we try to reduce the gender gap that exists in Wikipedia, and is coordinated by Patricia Horrillo, initiator of the citizen journalism research line at Medialab-Prado in 2014.

> Approach

This activity is aimed at anyone interested in making the lives and contributions of women in history visible on Wikipedia. So, if you want to take your first steps as a wikipedian, this is your chance!

During the meeting, which will start at 10:00 am, we will have the opportunity to learn many things together:

    - We will give an introductory workshop to Wikipedia to acquire the minimum notions necessary for the creation of articles.
    - We will analyze the problems arising from the gender gap that occur in this digital environment and we will see how this affects the perception of women's figures in history. We will talk about the importance of making women visible in a collaborative space such as Wikipedia, which is consulted by millions of people every day, including students and journalists.
    - We will learn how to compile and collaboratively write relevant information for the elaboration of biographies in Wikipedia.
      - And we will focus the day on creating articles by sports journalists as well as biographies of female athletes on Wikipedia.
