In El Lenguaje de tus ojos o el príncipe travestido (The Language of your Eyes or the Prince in Disguise), the Princess of Barcelona has fallen in love with Lelio, a mysterious man who commands her army, but as she is afraid of not fulfilling her duty of marrying a prince, she gets Hortensia (her friend and confidante) to investigate her beloved's background and while doing so to hint at her feelings for him and encourage him to declare his love. But when Hortensia meets Lelio, she recognises him to be the man who saved her from thieves and who she has never been able to forget. The feeling is mutual, but Hortensia doesn't want to betray her friend.
In the meantime, the Prince of Castile has asked for the hand of the Princess of Barcelona so that both kingdoms can be united and relieve the tension that has existed between them for years. Federico, a courtier in the Princess's service, wants to use this conflict to better his position at court and eliminate Lelio, who he regards as his rival.
There's intrigue, bribery and passions on all sides as everyone seeks to fulfil their innermost desires and the plot develops into a brilliant theatrical game in which looks take centre stage when words are not enough.
