EL RECICLADERO 2015

On 19 December, from 11am until 8pm, Matadero Madrid’s El Recicladero returns with its activity-packed programme for the whole family that aims to promote responsible consumption and sustainable development.   Through a range of entertaining activities, El Recicladero teaches us about the second life of objects. In the workshops for all ages, second-hand materials are reused to create new toys, stationary and decorative items and to customise clothes. A campaign to collect old clothes, books and toys will be organised and different zones will be set up for play areas for small children and craft workshops.   The activities are designed for families, youngsters and small children of all ages and are aimed at anyone wishing to discover new forms of more responsible and more sustainable consumption.   In the workshop area there will be recycling, educational and development aid activities: puppet making with recycled textiles; t-shirt customisation; toy and decorative item making using recycled materials; cardboard creations, and much more. In their own area, the little ones will be entertained with storytellers, puppet shows and recycling games.   An exhibition space has been set up to encourage the participation of the 2.0 world and bloggers from the Do-It-Yourself field, who will be promoting the event and the values it represents on social media as well as organising DIY workshops.   The Melior Foundation will be collecting books and stories for its aid project and toys to send to the Madrina Foundation, which will distribute them to children who, owing to economic, social or family reasons, may not be able to enjoy the Christmas they deserve. For its part, Handbox and its community of DIY bloggers will be organising a series of recycling workshops.   The party will be brought to a close by Livika and their basic percussion workshop with rhythm and music as its vital ingredients.
