Escala 1:1 (1:1 Scale) is an exhibition project at Matadero Madrid in collaboration with Renault in which 20 young artists work on a full-scale model of Renault’s new environmentally-friendly vehicle, the Twizy. During the week, the artists, who form part of the Archivo de Creadores de Madrid, will use the model as a blank canvas on which they can freely create a visual work or installation. Abdul Vas, Carlos Maciá, Daniel Silvo, Françoise Vanneraud, Gabriela Bettini, Haritz Guisasola, Javier Lozano, Jordi Ribes, Juan López, Juan Zamora, Julio Falagán, Luis Úrculo, Maite Camacho, Miren Doiz, Monoperro, Nano4814, Raúl Díaz Reyes, Santiago Giralda and Txema Maraví are the creators in charge of offering their particular vision of the Twizy in Nave 16 at the Matadero. In addition, during the first weekend’s work, that is, from 18 to 20 November, the space will be open to the public, so anyone can come to see the production process on the model and the metamorphosis of the car into a work of art. Once the actions have been completed, it will be possible to visit the result of the artists’ work on the 20 cars in the same space on 25, 26 and 27 November.
