The fourth edition of Europa Ilustra opens its doors in Madrid on June 3 with a selection of works by eleven illustrators from various European countries, cementing its status as one of the capital's premier events dedicated to contemporary illustration. Organized by the EUNIC Madrid network of European cultural institutes in collaboration with Casa del Lector, the exhibition offers a visual journey through styles, techniques, and narratives that reflect the creative richness of today's European artistic landscape.
The exhibition brings together works from Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden, and Wallonia-Brussels, providing a pluralistic perspective where fantasy, visual poetry, graphic experimentation, and reflection on identity, memory, and nature coexist.
The opening event will be attended by Austrian artist Anna Horak, Finnish artist Miila Westin, French artist Pauline Barzilaï, and francophone Belgian artist Gaya Wisniewski.
Europa Ilustra champions illustration as an artistic language capable of building bridges between cultures and sensitivities. This initiative is part of EUNIC Madrid's ongoing commitment to promoting an open, diverse European culture in constant dialogue with contemporary society. The exhibition will be on view until late September at Casa del Lector.
