Experimental Writing Program in Contemporary Art
Writing weaves through artistic processes in many different ways: the script of a performance, an exhibition wall text, a notebook of ideas, a grant application dossier, or even outreach materials—like this very text that’s trying to encourage you to sign up for PETRA. This program offers guidance and momentum for all these forms of writing in contemporary art, experimenting with their possibilities and steering away from clichés.
The program consists of a series of five workshops, each structured in two sessions, presented and accompanied throughout by Manuela Pedrón Nicolau. The first sessions of each workshop will feature Aicha Trinidad GouGoui, Marta Fernández Calvo, Vito Gil-Delgado, and Jorge de Cascante, who will each propose a different approach to writing in this field through references, readings, tips, and exercises. After the first session, participants will return fifteen days later for a follow-up with Manuela Pedrón Nicolau, where they will share texts and writings developed in response to the proposed exercises.
Free activity with prior registration. Each session will have its own specific call for enrollment.
