Alessandro Sciarroni is an Italian choreographer whose work lies between dance, performance and anthropological ritual.
Folk-s takes the rhythm, forms and rules of an ancient Bavarian-Tyrolean folk dance that has survived for years passed on from generation to generation. The practice of this dance, abstracted and de-contextualized, repeated almost mechanically, generates a flow of images and a sound beat that becomes hypnotic and transforms the perception of time offering a contemplation experience that transcends form. Sciarroni, has taken this work to festivals such as the Kunsten in Brussel, the Autumn Festival of Paris or the Impulstanz in Viena. He is one of today's most promising names in the European dance scenario.
