Summer in Plaza Matadero presents an artistic intervention by María Pratts and concerts by Futuro and Germán Carrascosa y la alegría del barrio, followed by the Djs Paraíso de Mierda.
The Possible Corner: Take a Selfie with Me by María Pratts This installation interweaves various characters, creating a picture you can be part of by taking a selfie of yourself. The characters are representatives from our run-down cities, blending elements of pop and street culture:
- The man with the trolley: on a bench there is a sculpture of a seated man. With one hand he holds a trolley full of junk and home appliances, and in the other he holds a selfie stick.
- The dancer: a girl with a suitcase wearing a suit and tie smokes an electronic cigarette and has a microphone inserted in her ear. She dances non-stop.
- Kidult: A teen-adult eating pizza wears overalls that cover him head to toe, which are full of brands that have been drawn and manipulated. Underneath are the slogans “mierda per tutti” (shit for everyone) – “sigo durmiendo” (I’m still asleep) – “quiero ser rico” (I want to be rich). Futuro
A love of synthesisers, drum machines and melancholy. All of this was a part of Italo Disco, which emerged (to great success) in the 1970s. Futuro makes exquisite Italo Disco and the best thing is that nobody had ever succeeded in convincing them to play their music live, until now... EPIC! Germán Carrascosa y la alegría del barrio
We will probably never be able to thank Germán enough for all of his contributions to the national underground scene. He was a member of some of Ale Hop Records’ earliest and ‘juiciest’ bands, first with Jugos Lixiviados and then as the frontman of the much-missed Bananas. His latest project features a bit of the best of everything, or as he has called his band, “La Alegría del Barrio.” Lively, unique and intelligent pop music. DJs: Paraíso de Mierda Quietly and with no pretensions, Paraíso de Mierda. has become one of Sala Costello’s most successful music sessions. The DJ’s sessions may have no particular pattern, or they may have the most consistent pattern in the world. In other words, he has mastered the art of playing, for example, Charol, Black Flag, Derribos Arias, Bandolero and Suicidas, making them all fit together seamlessly.
