This exhibition offers a journey through the life and work of Gloria Fuertes. Through her poems and the photographs she preserved over the years, we explore not only her personal story but also that of the twentieth century.
Yet her work is not simply the portrait of a particular era. It is timeless and addressed to humanity as a whole. As she herself said, her themes are “man–life, love–peace, death–God, heartbreak–anguish, humour–love, and love again”; in other words, the great questions that shape all of us. She also writes about what she lives, sees and feels: social injustice, inequality, discrimination, freedom and war, issues that continue to challenge us today. We still face the same doubts and conflicts; wars persist, as do intolerance and the lack of freedom.
In addition, her poetics reflect on the reasons for her writing, while in her “autobios” she opens the door to her memories and emotions. She does all this in a deliberately colloquial, accessible and direct language, seeking to reach everyone.
