According to Newton’s law of gravity, a body takes longer to go up than it does to come down.

Roi, who is performing in the final of a major European song contest after winning a national competition three months earlier, suddenly goes blank in the middle of his performance. The consequences of this mistake are inevitable and soon begin to unfold. Laura Garmo presents a fresh and optimistic story about identity and failure.

Guayominí is Nave 10’s emerging directing and playwriting project, a space dedicated to discovering new voices. Laura Garmo and Pablo Martínez Bravo bring to the stage a story about the importance of caring for what is close to you. Roi, a young singer-songwriter, is given the unique opportunity to take part in a contest that will bring him significant visibility. But that opportunity quickly turns against him: just as he is on the rise, he must already prepare for the fall. Like Roi, we live within a devouring system built on success and the opinions of others, where personal worth is reduced to what we are able to produce. Guayominí reminds us that life is not just a talent show.
