Matadero Madrid

In 2007, the site of Madrid’s former slaughterhouse and livestock market opened its doors to the public, transformed into one of the city’s most important cultural venues.

What was life like within its walls in the past? How were the buildings restored and repurposed? What kinds of activities take place in the space today?

Matadero Madrid, Center for Contemporary Creation, shares its story through guided conversation visits that offer multiple perspectives on one of the city’s most emblematic projects—from its origins as a municipal slaughterhouse to its present-day role.

These visits are designed for diverse audiences: from the general public, interested in Madrid’s recent past or in the center’s current programming, to organized groups from schools, senior centers, social organizations, and other institutions or backgrounds.

Guided conversation visits cost €3 per person, and tickets can be purchased via this [link].

Schools and organizations working with vulnerable communities can request free access to group visits held on Tuesdays and Thursdays by writing to info@mataderomadrid.org.

This email address can also be used by groups seeking more information or requesting support for visitors with specific needs.
