HACKFORGOOD PRESENTATION 2014

Next Thursday the 20 March at 7pm at the Central de Diseño of Matadero Madrid, we have the presentation of the hackathon HACKFORGOOD, an initiative begun by Telefónica, the ETSI of Telecomunications of the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid, the Fundación Hazlo and the start-up MachmeTV with the support of the Red de Cátedras Telefónica of the following universities: Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, Universidad de Deusto, Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Universidad de Oviedo, Politécnica de Cataluña, Politécnica de Madrid, Politécnica de Valencia, Universidad de Sevilla, UNED y Universidad de Valladolid.
HACKFORGOOD will take place simultaneously in eight Spanish cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Las Palmas, Oviedo, Sevilla, Valencia and Valladolid on the following 3, 4 and 5 of April. En Madrid, the second edition of HackForGood will be produced by MediaLab Prado.
This edition of the hackathon will bring together more than 600 developers with the objective of creating technological applications that will support social innovation, education and employment.
The applications can be developed individually or in groups, we especially support the formation of multidisciplinary teams that include all of the roles required for developing services and applications i.e. technicians, designers, computer scientists, sociologists, engineers, psychologists, social entrepreneurs and social workers...
The oganizers will lead the entrepreneurs in a series of challenges that they can use to develop a blueprint for their application. As well as the challenges provided by the organizers, anyone can contribute a task by going to this webpage: hackforgood.net/nuevo-reto/
The organization will award the team that develops the best technological applications in any of the following fields: Social Innovation, Education and Employment.
'HackForGood' Award: 4000€ for the best for the best project on a national level and eight wards of 2000€ (one for each city) for the best local projects. The winning applications will be chosen based on the impact and importance of the solucion developed: creativity, innovation and the level of completion during the Hackathon.
'Think Big - HackForGood' Award: Eight traineeships will be granted (one per city) to the Think Big programme by the Fundación Teléfonica, level START. This means training as well as 400 euros for each project. For one of them, the winner of the national scale Think Big, will have direct entry into the BUILD level of the program and will be granted funding of 3000€. To select the projects, Think Big España will consider the social impact, the visibility, the motivation of the team and that the leader of the team is between 15 and 26 years old.
'Fi-Ware - HackForGood' Award: This award will give the winning projects two shortcuts to the final stage od the 'Smart Society Challenge', with travel and accomodation paid for, due to be held at the Campus Party Europe. There is also 200, 000€ to be shared between the winning projects which will be selected based on the most innovative applications made using the Fi-Ware platform.
'Wayra - HackForGood' Award': This is 3 awards of consultency, training and workshopping in the Wayra headquarters in Madrid and Barcelona , along with the Wayra start-up programmes. The winning projects will be the most innovative applications that prove most appealing as a future start-up for Wayra. In addition, all winning teams will be invited to join the ecological entrepreneurship at Telefonica, called Open Future. This will give continuity to the projects and will also provide benefits from mentoring, aditional funding and extending their professional network, etc...
'DIMAD - HackForGood' Award': The slected group will be given free entry to participate in the DIMAD event, Replicage. This is an event foucussing on digital manufacture and design and it will take place of the 23, 24 and 25 May 2014 (www.replicage.org/)
Criteria: Design and social innovation. The award will recognize a project that proposes to build a space for dialogue between design and social innovation and that aims to help create a society of inclusion sharing and solidarity, especially considering how this can be developed and implemented in a Relicage context.
