The Spasticus Artisticus project offers a space for collective research into the relationship between fear and functional diversity, disability, and related lived realities. This is how the organizers present the activity:
Can a society be feminist if the subaltern subjects who inhabit it do so in fear?
Do we talk about how much fear we carry and what causes it?
Fear is directly connected to living conditions, but also to the bodies for which society and culture are built.
During the session, we will explore individual fears through play and improvisation, and examine their relationship with functional diversity and disability.
What do we do collectively with those fears?
The workshop is aimed at people with functional diversity or disabilities, whether diagnosed or identifying within crip, loque, diska, chronically ill, psychiatric survivor, neurodivergent, and related identities.
Requirements: you have fears and know you have them, or you’re willing to look for them.
Elena Prous works through writing, education, and art as ways to speak about the realities of people who are discriminated against because of their functional diversity or disability. She has collaborated with various media outlets and publications, and has led workshops and talks on the subject. Her performances and artistic projects have been presented in venues such as Matadero Madrid, Tabakalera Donostia, and La Virreina Barcelona. She is currently studying writing and performance creation while developing research on fear and disability.
Alba Moreno Biorrun is a transdisciplinary art therapist and educator in health promotion programs for the Girona Provincial Council. She is known for artistic projects and research that explore social issues and community rituals, particularly those that critique the commodification of death and social control.
She has collaborated with the artistic collective and cooperative Som Provisionals on the piece For Whom the Bells Toll, a physical theatre and community action work that places grief and death at the center of public space to be shared and collectively held.
This activity is part of the Spasticus Artisticus project, within Experimental Methodologies, Intermediae’s working line focused on methodological innovation. In the 2025–2026 edition, it is developed in collaboration with the Department of Education and Public Programs, with the shared goal of diversifying audience profiles and promoting cultural rights.
