To begin this cycle in the Nave de  Música we have the American musician Shigeto, who shows how the electronic samples that are fundamental to his musical practice are constructed from the instrument on which he is a virtuoso, the drums.

The work of the American musician Zach Saginaw, stage name Shigeto, is based on a combination of  sampled rhythms from drums and percussion, with a construction of structures and sonic landscapes that combine influences from ambient, IDM, hip hop, dubstep and jazz  sounds.   Zach Saginaw comes from the Detroit/ Ann Arbor music scene, one of the most prolific of recent years in the United States and forms part of Ghostly, an International label, who have created talent in the current international scene with artists, such as Matthew Dear, Gold Panda, Com Truise and School of Seven Bells. After finishing his studies at the New School of Music, New York, he settled in Brooklyn and started to make remixes for artists he related to, such as A Setting Sun, Beautiful Bells and Shlohmo, and released his first album in 2010, Full Circle. In 2012 he produced his second, Lineage, in which he delves into an investigation of rhythm and sonic textures.    Who is it for? The workshop is aimed at drummers and musicians in the city. The intention is to generate an exchange of ideas and techniques through the instrument itself and Shigeto's knowledge. He will demonstrate his method of playing the drums and invites attendees to play the second drumkit installed in the workshop space.
