“La avería”- the breakdown- deals with the lust for life still felt by those members of society who, having reached a certain age, are dismissed by society as useless. It talks about today's man's lack of a humanist viewpoint when analising his own life. “La avería” is also about wanting to be somebody, to have an identity in a world set on generalising and making us all equal- or the same.
In the society in which we live, is it right for us to fight ruthlessly to achieve our goals, stepping on anyone who stands in our way and making our way without consideration for others if we see fit? No, it's not against the law. But is it fair?
At a certain age, is it right for us to be denied coveted work positions, forced out of our jobs and threatened with social exclusion? No, it's not punishable by law. But is it fair?
