A LA SOMBRA DE LA CRUZ

(Alessandro Pugno / 73" / 2012 / Spain-Italy)   Not too far from Madrid you'll find the Valle de los Caídos, a place that remains a symbol of a conflict that is still unresolved in the heart of Spanish society.  Under the cross some 35,000 victims of the Spanish Civil War rest, while nearly fifty children go to school on the same site.  The children receive an education that tries desperately to resist the secularization and influence of science that characterize contemporary Spain and global society.
