"To invite the gods, ruins our relationship with them but sets history in motion.  A life in which the gods are not invited isn't worth living.  It will be quieter, but there won't be any stories.  And you could suppose that these dangerous invitations were in fact contrived by the gods themselves, because gods get bored with men who have no stories." (Roberto Calasso)

A huge café in Porto.  The tables are set up in long rows, ready for the assemly and revolution.  I sat at a table and called my friends.  I told them I would buy rounds until five in the morning.  We got together to talk about the history of our nation, to destroy it without the roar of destruction.
I'm guilty for not having distinguished art from love.  I'm guilty for not having understood that my work is decisive.  I'm guilty for not taking myself seriously.  If I can't call the gods when I want to, then why do I speak?  If I can't bury the dead- or resuscitate them-just by saying so, if my words can't do anything, then why don't I let someone else do the talking? Why don't I say “You try.  I don't know how"?
La tristura is comprised by Itsaso Arana, Pablo Fidalgo, Violeta Gil and Celso Giménez.  They began working in Madrid in 2004.  Their latest piece is Materia Prima (2011).  Radicales libres (Free Radicals) is the first part of their new project Decir que nos gusta España (To Say That We Like Spain), and with this project they are embarking on a new artistic phase.  A road into the night and into hell,to reconstruct diverse tales of the recent history of their nation.
