LA VENUS DE LAS PIELES
Diego del Pino is an ambitious young playwright, desperate to find the ideal actress to bring the female lead in his play to life; it is an adaptation of Venus in Furs, the novel from which sadomasochism originated. Just as casting is finishing up, Vanda appears - a young actress who seems very different to what he is looking for. Nonetheless, when he begins her test, a game of power, of seduction, of mirrors arises between them... where reality and fiction combine, giving rise to a battle where the roles of director, actress, dominator and dominated are not yet decided. It turns out that Vanda is much closer to that character, than Diego could ever have imagined.
“Intelligent and great fun, it is a work full of suspense on the power of seduction".
The New York Times
Awarded with a TONY in 2012 for the best actress in a play, also nominated for a TONY in 2012 as best play, and nominated for a DRAMA DESK Award 2012 for the best actor, the work was a hit with the critics and the public, becoming one of the most acclaimed plays of recent years on Broadway.
A sensual and sophisticated idea that is full of suspense, for which David Serrano (known for Días de fútbol (Football Days), El otro lado de la cama (The Other Side of the Bed), Agonía y éxtasis de Steve Jobs (The Agony & Ecstasy of Steve Jobs)) directs Clara Lago and Diego Martín in the play that looks like being one of the hit shows in Madrid in 2014.
*On 16 and 17 May, the show is at 7.30pm.
