LABORATORY SOCIAL SPACES
MIGRACIONES ESCÉNICAS
Institution
Stage migrations is an experimental laboratory for creators and researchers involved in stage studies, which is brought to the public by Artea and held at Museo Reina Sofía and Matadero Madrid.
What it is is an open space for collective reflection through research into the fields of dance, choreography, social activism and architecture. Its researchers focus on the phase in the process that leads up to the release of a final product. They consider this process one that is porous and unstable, but see these characteristics as a creative advantage, fit for creating the excellent space for discussion and reflection on the tools, practices and working methods they have brought to fruition.
The Laboratory Social Spaces aims, in effect, to lend practical vision to the social dimension of stage and theatre arts. In order to do so, it suggests, one must start with that most basic element: the stage, which always presents us with a new situation beyond mere fiction: the fact that we are sharing time and space with one another, at least while the show lasts. These researchers are studying different strategies to best use this axis that relates the viewer to the creator. The laboratory has set up two sessions with creators who will share their work process with each other and the interested public. The first session, on Wednesday, June 8, features the performer Alice Chauchat. The second, on Sunday, June 12, has the Brasilian choreographer Gustavo Ciriaco and the Mexican architect Lorenzo Rocha presenting their research studies. >Coordinated by: Victoria Pérez Royo and Fernando Quesada.
