A proposal born out of collapse—emotional, climatic, and political—blending dance, theatre, and cinema. A work that explores human contradictions, addressing themes such as isolation and social decay. A reflection on our fragility in a world that seems to be falling apart, and an urgent call to look at the present.
ULTIMATUM emerges from reflecting on how we coexist with the feeling that the world is moving towards inevitable conflicts while we continue to act as though we bear no responsibility, examining the boundaries we set, what we defend as our own, and what we are willing to lose or take away.
This contemporary dance piece by Led Silhouette (winners of El Ojo Crítico Dance Award 2024) stems from a sense of boundary—not physical, but ethical and emotional—and from asking ourselves how far our responsibility extends when we know something is wrong, yet remain inactive. Everything sits between control and loss, action and paralysis, at a moment marked by social, political, and ecological collapse, toward which we advance with an unsettling sense of normalcy. That contradiction is the driving force behind the piece.
The stage becomes a landscape of dispute where the body persists, burns out, and rises again. The body is understood as both territory and border: a place defended even when it no longer has the strength to do so. The conflict is not narrative but structural, rooted in the way we relate to others and to what we consider ours.
The work does not seek to provide answers, but rather to raise uncomfortable questions: What do we protect, why do we do it, and at what cost? We dance possession, heritage, the desire for control, and the ambition that permeate our decisions. It is thus presented as a space of confrontation, an invitation to observe what happens when we do nothing and to feel the discomfort of being part of a system that, even when it appears not to decide, is already taking a stand.
ULTIMATUM is the body as the final territory—the language we have left when nothing else remains.
