"Brecht displays extraordinary vision, not only of his own time but also of the future. The play is of great relevance, applicable to our times due to its central themes: “corruption” and “war.” The piece not only advocates against war but also against those who support a way of life driven by money, even at the cost of their own existence or that of their loved ones. “Corruption’s our only hope…”, “War be damned!”, and “No cause is lost if there is but one fool left to fight for it”… are some of the lines spoken by characters who show a great degree of humanity.   Atalaya’s production relies heavily on song. The eight actors are present throughout the play and perform various numbers live. Some of the audience is located onstage, as a metaphor of those who suffer first-hand from corruption or from wars, whether they are waged with weapons or are the silent battles waged by those in power which affect a large part of the planet’s population."
